I’m always happier with prints if I wait 24 hours before judging them.  Perhaps my perspective is a bit broader then and I can view the print as a whole (rather than focusing on details).  Or perhaps it is just further from my initial expectations.  After the 24-hour gap, I reassessed the squid print and decided not to add another layer.  So Squid are now available for purchase.  I have also added a print called “Family” that somehow got left off when I set up the gallery page.  This linocut print was one of my early prints, created for my niece Jessica’s wedding.

Squid layer three done, one more to go….

Planning on a 2-block, 4 or 5 layer reduction.  Now I am off to look up squid eyes to make sure I get it right.

Block 2 for Reno Mini Maker Faire is done. Just need to clean up a few rough edges.  Come by my booth at Idlewild Park on July 9th to print your own copy. 

Reno Mini Maker Faire is just a few weeks away and there is still lots to get ready.  I just finished and ran a test run on the first of at least 2 blocks (anyone who drops by my booth will be able to  make their own print).  The robot is the Faire logo.  

Also finished is a banner to hang in the booth. Now to start the second block….

A little lunchtime doodling and I have the general plan for a small (3.5″ square) reduction print in purples and blues.  Hope to start on it as soon as I finish the blocks for Maker Faire.

I am busy getting ready for my first public event.  the Reno Mini Maker Faire is July 9th at Idlewild Park in (you guessed it) Reno from 11am-5pm.  Since it is a hands-on maker event, anyone who comes to my booth will be able to roll out the ink and make their very own special-edition print.  I’ll also have lots of prints available for sale.  Lots to do before then, including carving 3 blocks just for the event.  This one has the Maker Faire robot logo.  Hope to see you at the Faire!

Welcome to the home of Purple Fuzzy Mittens.  This site is occasionally slow to update because, naturally, it is way more fun creating art than working on a web site.  For the last couple of years I have been up to my elbows in inkiness.  You can see many of the resulting prints on the Gallery page.  To learn about how you can purchase prints, check out the About page.  All of my prints are original hand-pull (hand carved, inked and burnished with a barren) prints.  Nothing digital here, except the web site!
