I am a printmaker living in Reno Nevada. My medium is relief printmaking. Although I started using linoleum, I now work almost exclusively with wood. Print blocks are made by carving away the surface using simple hand tools, then ink and paper are applied. Each print is hand-burnished using a barren. I do not use a press.

Almost all of my prints are produced as small limited editions and many of the multicolor prints are reduction prints. Reduction prints, sometimes called “suicide blocks,” are produced by printing multiple layers from the same block, carving out a bit more between each layer of color. Because the process destroys the block bit by bit, only one print run is possible.

Due to the all hand-work process, expect variation across an edition.

FAQ:

How can you buy a print?

You can contact me via email at purplefuzzymittens@gmail.com. I take most credit cards (through PayPal) or checks. Shipping to anywhere in the continental U.S. is (for prints that fit in an 9X12 document mailer) $6.00 ($3 for the document mailer and $3 for postage). Additional prints ship for free as long as they fit in the same mailer. Larger prints will require a custom quote (at least until I have sent a few). Note: It is important you email me, rather than put a comment on the web site or Facebook, because the email will be time-stamped in case of conflicting requests.

Why don’t I sell framed prints?

Selling the prints unframed allows me to focus my time on creating new prints, makes shipping much less complicated, and allows the buyer to frame the art to their own taste and budget.

Can you find me at an upcoming art fair or farmer’s market?

At the moment I am looking into possible venues.  I’ll be sure to post here when I put events on the calendar.  If you would like to hear about future events and new prints, you can drop me an email telling me to put you on my email list.

Can I create custom prints on commission?

No. I’m too whim-driven for that to work.
